Good Old Year

With Joy we let go off yesterday
The last day of yesteryear
Scorning it with all the strength in us
As though she gave us nothing good
But the good memories she brought would always remain
In our minds, in our hearts, deep within our souls
We do remember every bit of those moments

But sadly we betray her
Letting her know how well we wish she was away
Fervently we wait for her successor to arrive
How sad she might have felt…
But so has it remained over the times
Her arrival saw someone’s departure

Her birth was her predecessor’s demise
She was also welcomed well some time ago
Maybe even better than usual
And she showed a great sign of acceptance
Of the great things she can offer
But when humanity showed her their betrayal
She had nothing to do than to give way to the New Year
